The lessons of Iraq have been ignored. The target is now Iran (Grd)

03Feb2010 Guardian, 03/02/2010

This Guardian article suggests that there is growing evidence that the United States is intending to pursue the same policy with Iran as it did with Iraq. "The echoes of the run-up to the invasion of Iraq are unmistakable. Just as in 2002-3, we are told that a dictatorial Middle Eastern state is secretly developing weapons of mass destruction, defying UN resolutions, obstructing inspections, threatening its neighbours and supporting terrorism." The author goes on to suggest that, as with Iraq, there is no evidence to support the allegations of Weapons of Mass Destruction and adds that the repercussions of such a policy, if carried through to a war on Iran, could be even more damaging than the action in Iraq.
