A teenage girl seems to be the only survivor of the plane crash off the Comoros islands. In response to safety concerns, a spokesperson for Yemenia, the jointly owned Saudi-Yemeni airline involved, said: "the crashed plane had passed a safety inspection in May". The airline has and denounced "false information and speculation" about the cause of the accident and has already announced it will make initial payments of €20,000 (£17,000) to the families for each of the victims.
