A review of the state of women's basketball in particular and women's sport in general in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Women's sport faces great obstacles in Saudi Arabia because of the conservatism of a strongly patriarchal society but, particularly in Jeddah where there are several female basket-ball teams, there is determination amongst some to promote the benefits of sport for females.
