Despite the difficulties, there is eagerness amongst some members of the Gulf Coperation Council (GCC) to introduce a common currency by 2010. It is unlikely all members will achieve this goal by that date (Oman has said it will not join such a currency at any date) but some are keen to meet the deadline.
