01Feb2008 OPEC Is Expected to Keep Oil Production Unchanged (NYT)

Despite exhortations from President Bush, OPEC is unlikely to increase oil output. While the United States fears recession, the oil producers are determined not to repeat their mistake 10 years ago when they increased production to help the world economy and saw the oil price plummet to $10 a barrel. It seems Bush's appeals to Saudi Arabia have had little effect.
