London, 6 December, 2005

The Annual International Businesswomen Forum opened here today under the title of "Knowledge and Skills Partnership in the World Economy" in which delegates from 30 countries, including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, are taking part.

A number of businesswomen addressed the opening session.

Princess Lu'lu'a Al-Faisal underscored the importance of education and role of women in developing the world economy and submitted a presentation on education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

She drew attention to the transfer of momentum of the world economy from labor and capital to the information revolution and telecommunications.

She noted that most of the Kingdom's population are young or teenagers and that the Saudi government does not differentiate between the sexes in education, offering them equal opportunities.

She said the Kingdom's accession to the WTO has led to reforms in the educational system to match with the competitiveness in the world economy.
