05Dec2005 Saudi Ambassador To London On The Role Of Saudi Women In Society

London, 5 December, 2005

Prince Mohammed bin Nawaf bin Abdulaziz, the Saudi Ambassador to the United Kingdom and Ireland, underlined the importance of the role played by Saudi women in all fields in Saudi society.

In a speech at a press conference held by the embassy today to mark the unprecedented visit of a delegation of Saudi businesswomen to London, to take part in the International Businesswomen Conference scheduled for London tomorrow, the Ambassador said Saudi women enjoy a sizable share in the economic movement and are able to achieve successes in terms of commercial, industrial and investment businesses, reminding that two businesswomen have recently been elected to the membership of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

He said university-graduated females in Saudi Arabia outnumber males, and have courageously entered the health, educational, commercial, engineering and diplomacy fields.

In conclusion, the Ambassador thanked the media for covering the event and vowed to build good relations with the press in London. "Yes, we might show different view points, but we have to build a relation based on respect and impartiality", he told the media representatives.
