02Dec2005 A Statement By Saudi Ambassador-designate To UK And Ireland

London, 2 December, 2005

Prince Mohammed bin Nawaf bin Abdulaziz, the Saudi Ambassador-designate to the United Kingdom and Ireland, who arrived in London last night to assume office as Ambassador Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Kingdom and Ireland, met here today, following the Juma'a (Friday) prayers, representatives of the Saudi community and a group of Saudi students studying in Britain, at the Saudi Embassy in London.

Following the meeting, Prince Mohammed bin Nawaf bin Abdulaziz expressed to the Saudi Press Agency his gratitude for the valuable royal confidence appointing him to this prestigious post, noting that the host country enjoys a political and economic leverage in the regional and international arenas.

He said he is going to follow the advice given to him by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz; Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, and Prince Saud Al-Faisal, the Foreign Minister, to build on the achievements of previous Saudi envoys to Britain.

Among the files pending for discussion between the Saudi and British sides were the issue of combating terrorism and further consolidating aspects of cooperation in the scientific, health and energy fields, he concluded.
