Swedish Products Show Opened In Riyadh

The Swedish Ambassador to the Kingdom, Ake Karlsson opened here today, with the Undersecretary of Ministry of Culture and Information for Foreign Information, Dr Salih Al-Namla, the Swedish products exhibition.

Big Swedish companies are participating in the six-day show.

Speaking on the occasion, Karlsson underlined the importance of cementing Saudi-Swedish economic, commercial, cultural and scientific relations.

He said that the Saudi market is the biggest in the Gulf region.

The Ambassador pointed out that Swedish exports to the Kingdom increased in the first six months of 2005 by 11 percent, compared to the same period in 2004. The value of these exports amounted to SR 2.8 billion, while Swedish imports from the Kingdom in the same period amounted to SR 304 million.

Underscoring the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation, the Swedish Ambassador said Sweden is a country of developed industrial base, and added that the Kingdom could benefit from the Swedish trade experience.

On his part, Dr Al-Namla said the Saudi economy is one of the biggest economies in the Middle East.
