26Nov2005 Saudi Arabian Airlines To Transport 92,522 Iranian Pilgrims

Jeddah, 26 November, 2005

The Saudi Arabian Airlines (SAA) and the Iranian Hajj and Visit Organization signed here today a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the transportation of the Iranian pilgrims at this year's Hajj season.

Under the MOU, the SAA will transport 92,522 Iranian pilgrims from eight Iranian cities, namely: Kerman, Tehran, Shiraz, Bandar Abbas, Yazd, Mash'had and Sari to Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Airport in Madinah. The Iranian pilgrims' return flights will take place from King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah.

The MOU was signed by the SAA's Director General, Dr Khalid bin Bakr and the Iranian Deputy Minister of Guidance, Ahmad Zarhani.

In a press statement, Dr Khalid bin Bakr said the MOU reflects the keenness of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on developing its cooperation with various Islamic organizations and extending the best possible services to the pilgrims and Umrah (minor Hajj) performers.

On his part, Zarhani said the MOU embodies the existing good Saudi-Iranian relations.

He lauded the excellent services being extended by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Iranian pilgrims, Umrah performers and visitors.
