24Nov2005 Saudi Minister Of Education Attends Symposium In Berlin

Berlin, 24 November, 2005

The Saudi Minister of Education, Dr. Abdullah bin Salih Al-Obaid confirmed here today that positive dialogue among civilizations and religions is considered one of the leading basics to avert disputes.

In a key address at the opening session of the symposium on Cultural Dialogue between the Arab/Islamic and German countries, held in Berlin today, the Saudi Minister drew attention to the fact that the Islamic greetings means "peace be on you", calling on Arab and Islamic societies to exert utmost efforts to refute accusations raised by enemies of Islam to wedge rifts between the Islamic and Christian worlds.

He said Saudi Arabia had been for a long time keen to encourage dialogue and to support it financially, morally and literally, lauding the Saudi-German relations, which extend back deep into history.

He reminded reporters of the Frankfurt International Exhibition 2004, urging participants in the symposium to forge points that could be used as working plans for the good of humanity.
