On behalf of Iyad Madani, the Minister of Culture and Information, Prince Turki bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the Assistant Minister of Culture and Information, inaugurated here today various activities of the Chinese Cultural Week.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Chinese Deputy Minister of Culture, Chawo Yusoi and members of diplomatic corps and senior Saudi officials.
Speaking on the occasion, Prince Turki bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz highlighted the existing political and economic relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and China.
Underscoring the importance of enhancing cultural relations between the Kingdom and China, Prince Turki hoped that the Chinese cultural week would positively contribute to further enhancing these relations.
Prince Turki bin Sultan noted that Muslims had established relations with China since ancient times.
"Here, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, we realize the importance of cementing cooperation among nations of the world, because that is the way for realizing peace", he said, adding that the Saudi government is keen on strengthening its relations with others.
On his part, Chawo Yusoi said the Arab-Chinese relations are deep-rooted, adding that the organization of the Chinese Cultural Week in Riyadh comes within the framework of the cultural cooperation agreement signed by the Kingdom and China.
At the end of the function, Prince Turki bin Sultan expressed appreciation for the efforts exerted to ensure the success of the Cultural Week.
