15Nov2005 WHO Chooses Saudi Arabia To Treat Its Employees In Emergency Cases

Riyadh, 15 November, 2005

The World Health Organization (WHO) chose Saudi Arabia from among 22 countries of the eastern Mediterranean region to be the destination to which WHO's employees working in the region will be transported for treatment in extreme emergency cases which would require urgent medical evacuation, the General Supervisor of Media and Health Awareness at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Khalid bin Mohammad Marghalani said.

Dr. Marghalani explained that Saudi Arabia received a letter from the regional director of WHO for the eastern Mediterranean, lauding the distinguished health services in Saudi Arabia and stating that this choice was based on world respect for Saudi Arabia and the excellent services provided by the Saudi medical facilities.

He added that the employees have comprehensive insurance cover and will be treated at WHO's expense.
