26Oct2005 Crown Prince Sultan Hopes Iraq Will Remain A United Arab Country

Makkah, 26 October, 2005

Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, has expressed hope that Iraq would remain a unified Arab country after the ratification of its constitution.

In a press statement here on Tuesday after presiding over the 11th session of the Board of Trustees of Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Charitable Foundation, he said: "We cannot say yes or no to the Iraqi constitution, because this is something to be decided by the Iraqi people themselves, but we hope that Iraq will remain a unified and an independent Arab county".

On the recent visit of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz to the US, Crown Prince Sultan said it had yielded positive results, adding King Abdullah exchanged views with President Bush in an open and frank manner, and he was appreciated by President Bush for his frankness, positiveness and patriotism.

Referring to the Islamic Summit due to be held in Makkah next December, Crown Prince Sultan said King Abdullah is keen on unifying the Muslim ranks. He hoped that the Summit would be successful.
