24Oct2005 New Saudi Ambassador Presents Credentials To Iranian Foreign Minister

Tehran, 24 October, 2005

The new Saudi ambassador to Iran, Osama bin Ahmad Al-Sanousi presented here today his diplomatic credentials to the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Manuchehr Motaki.

Speaking on the occasion, the new Saudi ambassador reiterated the keenness of the Saudi government on further enhancing relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Iran.

On his part, the Iranian Foreign Minister underlined the importance of exchanging views between the Kingdom and Iran in various spheres, notably the current situation in Iraq, as well as issues pertaining to oil, OPEC and the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC).

Motaki described the role that could be played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Iran vis-à-vis the developments in Iraq, as an important role.
