The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz has reiterated the keenness of the Saudi Government in supporting the agricultural sector, realizing its economic and social importance and its role in ensuring food security.
The King made the remarks here yesterday evening while presiding over the regular session of the Cabinet.
The Minister of Culture and Information, Iyad Madani, in his briefing to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), said the King had underlined the important responsibilities of the governors of the regions, and hoped that the governors would dedicate their efforts in the service of the citizens.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet condemned the Israeli practices against the Palestinian people, and urged the international community to shoulder its responsibility towards the terror being practiced by Israel against the Palestinians.
As regards Iraq, the Cabinet hoped that Iraq would be capable of ensuring its security, and stability and preserve its unity and would be capable of playing its role at Arab, Islamic and international arenas.
The Cabinet approved to change the name of the Saudi National Committee for Childhood to 'The National Childhood Committee'.
The Committee's General Secretariat will be directly linked with the Minister of Education and will have fixed budget from the budget of the Ministry of Education.
The Committee will be formed as follows:
-the Minister of Education as the president, and the membership from each of the undersecretaries of the ministries of Social Affairs, Education, Health, Justice, Culture and Information and Youth Welfare, in addition to specialists in children's affairs.
The Committee will extend proposals pertaining to strategic plans for children.
It will also extend support to the governmental authorities concerned with children.
It will support researches and studies pertaining to the care of children.
It will also set regulations organizing the establishment of the non-governmental societies for the care of children. Moreover it will evaluate plans and policies pertaining to the affairs of children.
The Cabinet also approved the final account for the fiscal year 1424-1425 AH of the King Fahd National Library
It also approved an integrated system for the management of garbage in member states of The Arab Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
The Ministry of Health, in coordination with the General Presidency of Meteorology and Environmental Protection and other authorities, will set the executive statute for the integrated system of management of garbage.
The executive statute will be issued by the Minister of Health within a period of not more than 120 days.
The aforesaid system aims at preserving public health and avoiding environmental pollution.
The Cabinet also approved the transfer of Dr Ibrahim bin Suleiman bin Komeish Al-Howeimil from the Ministry of Higher Education and his appointment as the Undersecretary of the General President at the General Presidency of the Commission of Promotion of Virtues and Prevention of Vice, at grade 15.
Appointment of Mishari bin Badr bin Abdulaziz Al-Askar at the post of director general for administrative and financial affairs at the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs at grade 14, was also approved.
