11Oct2005 Saudi Red Crescent Society Forms Committee To Assist Pakistan And India

Riyadh, 11 October, 2005

In implementation of the order of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz to provide people affected by the recent earthquake in Pakistan and India with urgent assistance worth $10 million, the Saudi Red Crescent Society has formed a central committee headed by the Society's Relief Director General, Salim bin Sulaiman Al-Ahmed.

The committee includes six subcommittees for Medical Affairs; Financial and Administrative Affairs; Follow up of Freight and Aviation with the Air Forces; Information Affairs; Coordination and Follow up and International Documentation.

A team of specialists in disasters has also been sent to Pakistan to assess the needs of medical services.
