The US State Department has highlighted the existing cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the US in fighting terrorism, and said: "The two countries do understand the dangers of terrorism, and share concern about this terrorism which has targeted and still targets their interests".
The Deputy Spokesman for the State Department said in his press briefing yesterday that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the US are aware of the fact that fighting terrorism and cooperation in this respect, not only in the two countries but also in the world in general, will serve their mutual interests.
The Deputy Spokesman refused to elaborate about the terror threats that made the US State Department issue warnings on Sunday to the American citizens residing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and led to the closure of the US embassy and consulates in the Kingdom.
He added: "According to the available information, the targets of these threats are the American diplomatic installations".
