The Royal Court announced that the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdulaziz died today after an illness.

The following is the biography of the late King Fahd:

"The late King Fahd's full name was Fahd bin Abdulaziz bin Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman bin Faisal, bin Turki bin Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Saud bin Mohammed bin Meqrin bin Markhan bin Ibrahim bin Mousa bin Rabee'a bin Mani bin Rabee'a Al-Mureedi.

The grandfather of the Saudi family was Bakr bin Wa'il, from Bani Assad bin Rabee'a.

King Fahd was born in Riyadh in 1923.

He grew under the patronage of his father, the unifier of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, King Abdulaziz.

During his childhood, he joined the princes' school in Riyadh. He also joined the Islamic institute in Makkah and was fully prepared to perform his future responsibilities.

In his forties, he studied English, as well as intensive courses in various political and literary topics.

King Fahd read books pertaining to senior world leaders.

His companionship of his father King Abdulaziz had a positive impact on his character and led to enrichment of his ideas, and prepared him to assume the highest posts.

On behalf of his father, King Fahd met leaders of various tribes and worked to resolve their problems.

The following are the posts occupied by him:

- Minister of Education in 1953

- Minister of interior in 1962

- Second Deputy premier in 1967, in addition to his responsibilities at the Interior Ministry, He also started to chair the Cabinet meetings.

- He became the Crown Prince on March 25, 1975, and became the First Deputy Premier

- He became the King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on June 13, 1982 following the death of King Khalid.

-The National Security Council

-The Supreme Petroleum Council

-The Council of Higher Education and Universities

-The Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu

-The Supreme Youth Welfare Council

-The Higher Commission for the Educational Policy

-The Royal Commission for the Development of Madinah

-The Higher Commission for King Abdulaziz City for Sciences and Technology

-Head of the Council of the Royal Family

-The Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces
