07Jul2005 Crown Prince and Prince Sultan Condemn the Murder of Egyptian Diplomat

Riyadh, 7 July 2005

Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, the Deputy Premier and Commander of the National Guard, made a telephone call today to President Mohammed Hosni Mubarak of Egypt, condemning the assassination of Egypt's head of diplomatic mission in Iraq, Ihab Alshareef, by Iraqi insurgents.

During the conversation, the Crown Prince conveyed the condolences of the King, Government and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to President Mubarak, the family of the victim and the Egyptian people on the sad loss of the Egyptian senior diplomat.

Crown Prince Abdullah also confirmed the strong support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdulaziz, for Egypt in confronting any terrorist act. Crown Prince Abdullah also reaffirmed that such terror acts have nothing to do with true Islam.

Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the Second Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, made a similar telephone call to President Mubarak, condemning the crime, offering sympathy to the family of Ihab Alshareef and expressing the support of the Kingdom for Egypt in fighting terrorism.

President Mubarak expressed his appreciation for the sincere fraternal feelings of Crown Prince Abdullah and Prince Sultan and confirmed the determination of Egypt and its friendly countries to continue to fight terrorism.
