Security forces carried out early today (Sunday, 3 July 2005), two raids on two places, east of Riyadh, suspected by security forces of being used as hide outs by terrorists, according to an official source of the Interior Ministry.
"At the first place, two individuals were arrested without any resistance, but the second raid resulted in a shoot-out. This shoot-out led to the killing of Yunis Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Hayari and the arrest of another person.
Al-Hayari, a Moroccan, who was the number one on the security forces' most wanted list, had been staying illegally in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, hiding among the terrorists. He had experience in the field of explosives and was one of the people who were directly involved in earlier terrorist attacks in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Following the death of his predecessor, he was nominated by members of the terrorist group to be their leader.
He was killed while resisting arrest.
The identity of three others arrested during the raid were withheld.
Six security men were slightly injured during the operation.
"Weapons, munitions, telecommunications devices, computer sets and various documents and publications were also found at the two hide-outs," the official source said.
