10May2005 GCC sign an agreement with Mercosul Group Countries

Brasilia, Brazil, 10 May 2005

Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) signed here today an economic cooperation agreement with the member states of the Common Market of the Southern Cone (MERCOSUL).

On the GCC side, the Deputy of the Bahraini Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, and the Secretary General of GCC Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Attiyah signed the agreement.

One the other side, Brazil's Foreign Minister; Uruguay's Foreign Affairs Minister; Mercosul Representative; and Argentina Foreign Minister co-signed.

The agreement is designed to enhance economic cooperation and to establish free trade area between the two sides.
