07May2005 Saudi-Egyptian Talks Focus On Bilateral Ties and Current Arab Situation

Answering a question about the Arab initiative, Awwad replied that Crown Prince Abdullah briefed President Mubarak on his visit to France and the United States.

As regards "Road Map", Awwad said "Whoever studies the road map, it reflects Crown Prince Abdullah's initiative which had been approved and reaffirmed at Algiers (Arab) Summit".

"Moreover, there is joint cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Egypt in all fields including the real and dangerous challenge of terrorism that threatens the two countries, the Middle East, and the rest of the entire world."

He affirmed that Saudi Arabia and Egypt hold identical stances toward the current Arab situation, the bilateral relations between the two countries and the Lebanese issue.

He also reiterated that the conveying of the Arab point of view to the U.S is 'a very big and successful achievement especially when we know that America needs Saudi Arabia to stabilize the oil market and the Arab (world) needs serious U.S moves to implement the perspective introduced by President Bush in 2002 to establish two states of Palestine and Israel.
