27Apr2005 Prince Naif remarks at Ceremony to honour Sheikh

Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz, the Interior Minister, patronized here on Tuesday evening the ceremony organized by the Commission of Investigation and Prosecution in honor of Sheikh Mohammed bin Suleiman Al-Muhawwas on the occasion of the end of Al-Muhawwas' term of office at the Commission and naming him as a member of the Shoura (consultative) Council.

Prince Naif was welcomed by Prince Ahmad bin Abdulaziz, the Deputy Interior Minister, and a number of senior officials.

Addressing the ceremony, Prince Naif underscored the important role being played by the Commission of Investigation and Prosecution in the service of the society.

At the end of the ceremony, Prince Naif, in a press statement, said the Commission of Investigation and Prosecution is an independent body which works under the supervision of the Minister of Interior.

On the Saudi-American Joint Communiqué, issued at the end of the talks held between Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, the Deputy Premier and Commander of the National Guard, and US President George W. Bush, Prince Naif hoped that the Joint Communiqué would have a positive impact on the Saudi-American relations.

'Undoubtedly Prince Abdullah has reviewed with the American officials all matters that concern the Kingdom', said Prince Naif pointing to the deep-rooted Saudi-American relations which go back to the era of King Abdulaziz and President Franklin Roosevelt.

Prince Naif underlined the importance of extending facilities to the Saudi students studying in the US or to the Saudis who go there for medical treatment.

On the appointment of members of the Shoura, Prince Naif said the 'the best elements are always selected and appointed as members of the Shoura'.

Turning his attention to the deviant groups, Prince Naif said so many elements of the deviant group, either killed or arrested, were using drugs.

Referring to the security campaign which recently took place in Riyadh, Prince Naif said 'what has taken place in Riyadh will also take place in other parts of the Kingdom'.
