14Mar2005 King Fahd Gifts 100 Tons of Dates For Zambian Charity Societies

Saudi ambassador to Zambia Talat bin Salim Ridwan has recently delivered to the Zambian Government one hundred ton of dates - a gift from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdulaziz - at a ceremony organized on the occasion.

The ceremony was attended by the Zambian vice-President and Ministers of Agriculture, Health, Education and the Social Development, other senior officials in addition to a number of businessmen.

Speaking on the occasion, the Saudi ambassador highlighted the existing friendly relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Zambia.

For his part, the Zambian Vice-President expressed appreciation for the Saudi gift, and said the gift embodies the existing deep-rooted relations between the Kingdom and Zambia. He pointed out that numerous charitable societies in Zambia have benefited from such donations.

The Vice-President said the Kingdom had earlier provided Zambia with 200 tons of corn, 98 tons of various food materials in addition to two tons of medical supplies.
