06Mar0005 Riyadh Population Reaches 4.26 Million

A study conducted by the Higher Authority for the Development of Riyadh has disclosed that the population of Riyadh governorate (including the neighborhoods of Dir'eyya, Irqa and Hair) has reached 4,260,000 by the end of the lunar year 1425 AH..

According to the study the growth rate of the population from 1417 AH to 1425AH amounted to 4.2 percent. The growth rate between 1411AH and 1417AH had been running at 8.1 percent..

The study attributed the decline in the growth rate to the decline in the number of immigrants to Riyadh from various regions of the Kingdom.

As many as 15 percent of the immigrants came to Riyadh from Assir region, 14 percent from Makkah region and 12 percent from Qasim region.

The study pointed out that Saudis accounted for 2,800,000 (66 percent) in Riyadh city, while the non-Saudis amounted to 1,460,000 (34 percent).

The study said the Saudi males constituted 53 percent (1,480,500), while the Saudi females constituted 47 percent (1,391,000) of the total population of Riyadh.

Males among the non-Saudis amounted to 63 percent (918,400), while the females among them amounted to 37 percent (541,600).
