25Dec2004 Crown Prince Abdullah Opens Gigantic Projects in Jubail

Jubail, Saudi Arabia, 25 Dec 2004

Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, the Deputy Premier and Commander of the National Guard, patronized here today the ceremony of laying the foundation stones for the gigantic project of Jubail II, a number of industrial and developmental projects as well as the inauguration of other projects which have started production.

The Crown Prince was accompanied by Prince Miteb bin Abdulaziz, the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Prince Nawaf bin Abdulaziz, the Chief of General Intelligence. Upon arrival at the venue, the Crown Prince was received by Prince Mohammed bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz, the Governor of the Eastern Region, other princes and officials.

The Crown Prince chaired a meeting of the board of directors of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu.

In a press statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) following the meeting, Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Thinayyan Al Saud, the Chairman of Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu said that Crown Prince Abdullah had expressed his pleasure at the Commission's successes, achieved in the interess of the homeland and citizens. He noted that the Crown Prince praised the efforts exerted by the Commission for the achievement of studies and special plans for this important national project.

He added that the Crown Prince also commended the Commission for diversifying the income sources through industrial investments estimated at hundreds of SR billions and the provision of thousands of job opportunities.

The meeting was attended by Prince Miteb bin Abdulaziz, the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs; Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Thinayyan Al Saud, the Chairman of Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu; Dr. Ghazi Al-Gosaibi, the Minister of Labor; Dr. Ibrahim Al-Assaf, the Minister of Finance; Ali Al-Naimi, the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources; Dr. Hashim bin Abdullah Yamani, the Minister of Commerce and Industry; Dr. Jubarah Al-Suraiseri, the Minister of Transport; and a number of officials.

A speech ceremony was held on this occasion. Addressing the ceremony, Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Thinayyan announced that Crown Prince Abdullah had issued his directives to set up two technical institutes in Jubail and Yanbu and a girls’ college in Yanbu and to expand the two industrial colleges and the girls’ college in Jubail to accommodate more students

Laying the foundation stone for the project, Jubail II, the Crown Prince said it will be for the service of the religion, the Saudi people and the world. Then the Crown Prince laid the foundation stones for a number of the projects of the Commission, Saudi Arabian Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC)and the private sector and inaugurated a number of their projects as well as of Electricity and Water Utilities Corporation in Jubail and Yanbu.

On this occasion, the Commission donated a lot of land in the Central Trade Zone in Jubail Industrial City for Down Syndrome Endowment and transferred for the endowment the sums, gifts, and shields given to it on this occasion.

The Crown Prince then graced a dinner party held in his honor. The ceremony and the party were attended by a number of princes, ministers and senior officials.
