17Dec2004 Three Pakistani drug smugglers executed

Jeddah, 17th December 2004

Three Pakistani citizens - Ilias Ahmad Mohammed Basheer, Hassan Khan Sayyed Ahmad (Dawa’ie Khan Azeem Khan Ashik), and Askandar Hiyan Riyad Ahmad (Mohammed Zahir Khan) – were today beheaded in Jeddah after being convicted of smuggling heroin into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

An Interior Ministry statement said that the courts convicted the culprits and the verdict was approved by the Court of Cassation and the Supreme Judicial Council.

The statement reiterated the determination of the Saudi Government severely to punish criminals and enforce law and order.
