20Nov2004 Prince Sultan bin Salman speaks on national tourism strategy

Secretary General of the Higher Tourism Commission Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a suitable place for investment projects, particularly in the field of tourism. In a statement to the Cairo-based Al-Ahram Al-Arabi magazine, Prince Sultan bin Salman said that a general strategy for development of tourism in the Kingdom up to the year 2020 has been prepared.

He said that the Higher Tourism Commission presented 70 initiatives for tourism promotion in Saudi Arabia which would create 1.5 million job opportunities.

Prince Sultan bin Salman predicted that the number of tourists arriving at the Kingdom’s airports in 2020 would reach 13.1 million, from 7.5 million in 2002. He said that the number of internal tourists is expected to reach 62.8 million next year and 128 million in the year 2020.

Prince Sultan bin Salman highlighted the significant role played by the Council of Arab Tourism Ministers in the promotion of tourism awareness among citizens and encouraging private sector investment in the tourism sector.
