Al-Naimi announces discovery of new oil field

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Eng. Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Naimi announced that the Saudi Arabian Oil Company, Saudi Aramco, discovered a new field of high-grade oil with an average flow of 3,000 barrels per day.

The field was discovered in Abu Sidr, 185 kilometres south of Riyadh and 480 kilometres southwest of Dhahran, and was tested on 22 October. The oil density is 54 degrees on the scale of the U.S. Petroleum Institute.

Al-Naimi predicted a high rate of production at this field.
