Labour Minister Dr Ghazi Al-Gosaibi spoke on the government’s strategic plan to train Saudis for senior jobs in Saudi oil and gas industries and government plans to create job opportunities for Saudi women in new fields.
“Saudi Arabia has gained immense experience in oil, gas and petrochemical industries, which could be utilized to train a skilled national cadre for employment in the sector,” Al-Gosaibi told Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper, a sister publication of Arab News.
Dr Al-Gosaibi said that his Ministry would work in cooperation with the Ministries of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and Higher Education, and other agencies to help young Saudis find attractive jobs in new gas projects to be implemented by international oil companies.
Al-Gosaibi said that efforts were under way to open sections for women in all government departments following a Cabinet decision in this regard. The Cabinet also instructed the Manpower Development Fund to provide training and employment for women.
“There are no anticipated problems in establishing women’s sections in all government departments that serve women, in accordance with the recent Cabinet decision,” Al-Gosaibi said when asked whether women could be trained to take up technical jobs at girls schools and female housing units.
