The Arab Gulf Cooperation Council, in cooperation with the Federation of GCC Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is organizing a third seminar on “Commercial Fraud and Imitation” in GCC member states. The seminar will take place in Riyadh on Monday.
Delegates from a number of governmental authorities and organizations, GCC Chambers of Commerce and Industry, universities, scientific research centres and private sector establishments will attend the seminar.
Abdulrahman Al-Jeraisey, Chairman of the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that the seminar is aimed at activating recommendations for combating commercial fraud and making consumers aware of the disadvantages generated by commercial fraud and its adverse impact on the national economy. He added that the seminar would provide a good opportunity to exchange views on successful means of combating commercial fraud.
Al-Jeraisey noted that participants of the seminar will discuss commercial fraud in the context of globalisation and electronic commerce, World Trade Organization (WTO) regulations, and the role of public and private sectors and civil institutions in combating commercial fraud.
At a meeting convened in Riyadh in September 2000, GCC commerce ministers decided that a seminar on commercial fraud and imitation in GCC states should take place on a every two years, organized by a different member of the Federation of GCC Chambers of Commerce and Industry and other concerned authorities each time.
