The 8th annual Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Youth Forum on Tuesday began its activities in Abha. The World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) organised the eight-day event.
WAMY Secretary General Dr Saleh Al-Wohaibi said in a statement yesterday that the Forum seeks to educate youth and represent GCC youth who are actively involved in development of their countries.
Over 300 students from universities in GCC member countries are taking part in the Forum, which coincides with Abha’s summer tourism festival.
The statement said that highlights of the Forum would include recreational, educational, sports, social and cultural activities and Holy Quran contests. There will be training courses and seminars on successful self-management, teamwork, banking and sports; field visits to Asir, and an exhibition on WAMY’s various activities.
The GCC comprises Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman.
