07Aug2004 Crown Prince patronises electricity project inauguration

Taif, Saudi Arabia, 7th August 2004

Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, the Deputy Premier and Commander of the National Guard, today patronized the inauguration ceremony of the first power station to convert 380/110 kilo volts in Taif Governorate, undertaken at a total cost of SR240 million.

Upon arrival at the venue, the Crown Prince was received by Governor of Makkah Region Prince Abdulmajeed bin Abdul Aziz; Minister of Water and Electricity and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Saudi Electricity Corporation Eng. Abdullah bin Abdulrahman Al-Hussain; Governor of Taif Fahd bin Abdul Aziz bin Muammar; Executive President of the Corporation Sulaiman bin Abdullah Al-Qadhi; and a number of officials.

A speech ceremony was held on the occasion. In his speech Eng. Al-Hussain noted that the government’s investment in electricity amounted to over SR83 billion between 1395 and 1419H, which resulted in an increase in production power from 1140 to 22,000 megawatts.

The Crown Prince received a memorial shield from the Minister of Water and Electricity. He then unveiled a memorial plaque, marking the project’s inauguration.

The ceremony was attended by Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs Prince Miteb bin Abdul Aziz; Chief of General Intelligence Prince Nawaf bin Abdul Aziz; Saudi Ambassador to Italy Prince Mohammed bin Nawaf bin Abdul Aziz; and other princes and officials.
