In a statement to BBC Television on Sunday, Saudi Ambassador to Great Britain and Ireland Prince Turki Al-Fasial said that the Kingdom has significantly progressed in all spheres over the last three decades, and will continue its steady development. He highlighted the Kingdom’s significant role in fighting terrorism, and noted the successful role of Saudi women in the fields of higher education and the service of society.

The Ambassador said that the organization of the Saudi festival “Arabian Days” in London was aimed at enabling Britons to become acquainted with aspects of the style of life in the Kingdom and the Kingdom’s culture, heritage and traditions. “We hope that the “Arabian Days” festival will positively contribute to correcting misconceptions about our country,” he said. Prince Turki said that extremist elements have defamed the Kingdom and its people.

On Saudi-British relations, Prince Turki said that commercial relations between the Kingdom and Britain are growing at a remarkable pace, adding: “Despite recent terrorist attacks, British exports to the Kingdom increased by 30% over the last three years, whilst Saudi exports to Britain increased by 10% during the same period. The Kingdom is keen further to enhance it its relations with Britain and other countries of the world.
