Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal held a second session of talks with U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell on Wednesday evening.
In a press statement following the talks, Prince Saud expressed hope that there will be efforts to accelerate the achievement of security in Iraq, withdraw U.S.-led alliance troops, and restore sovereignty to Iraq. He noted that he had held talks with Iraq’s Prime Minister, who will present agreed proposals to Islamic countries and the United Nations.
Prince Saud said that in order to achieve peace in Iraq departing troops must be replaced by other peace-keeping troops.
The Minister said that the Kingdom’s embassy in Iraq will be opened when security is achieved.
