Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Premier and Commander of the National Guard, today met with Iraqi Premier Dr Iyad Allawi.
At the outset of the meeting, the Crown Prince welcomed the Iraqi Premier and his accompanying delegation. The meeting then discussed recent developments in the region, particularly the situation in Iraq. The Kingdom stressed the need to ensure Iraq’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, political independence, security and stability in order that Iraq effectively resume its role in regional and international arenas. The meeting also discussed recent events in Arab, Islamic and international arenas and aspects of cooperation between the two countries.
On the Saudi side, the meeting was attended by Prince Abdulrahman bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Minister of Defence and Aviation and Inspector General; Prince Mit’eb bin Abdul Aziz, the Minister of Rural and Municipal Affairs; Prince Nawaf bin Abdul Aziz, Chief of General Intelligence; Prince Naif bin Abdul Aziz, the Interior Minister; Prince Saud Al-Faisal, the Foreign Minister; Prince Abdulilah bin Abdul Aziz; Prince Abdulmajeed bin Abdul Aziz, the Governor of Makkah Region; and Minister of Hajj Iyad bin Amin Madani.
On the Iraqi side, the meeting was attended by Minister of Planning and Development Cooperation Dr Mahdi Al-Hafez; Minister of Communications Dr Mohammed Ali Al-Hakim; Minister of Defence Hazem Al-Shaalan; Minister of Petroleum Thamer Abbas Al-Ghadhban; and other ministers and officials.
