Minister of Labour Dr Ghazi Al-Gosaibi said that the report recently issued by the organization Human Rights Watch on the situation of foreign workers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia presented the problems of foreign manpower in an imbalanced manner.
The Minister noted that labour problems in the Kingdom are dealt with by labour committees and judiciary organs. The Kingdom hosts approximately seven million expatriate workers, who remit an annual SR60 billion, which promotes economic development in the expatriates’ countries of origin.
Dr Al-Gosaibi said that Cabinet decision number 166, issued on 12/7/1421, is aimed at organizing employee-employer relations in a just manner. “In accordance with our Islamic values, we are keen to ensure honourable treatment for all residents in the country,” he said.
Dr Al-Gosaibi reiterated that the Ministry of Labour would unwaveringly shoulder its responsibility towards resolving all labour-related problems.
