13Jul2004 Wanted militant surrenders to authorities

Jeddah, 13th July 2004

An official source at the Interior Ministry announced that Saudi militant Khalid bin Odeh bin Mohammed Al-Harbi, known as Abi Sulaiman Al-Makki, who is wanted by security authorities, surrendered to authorities in response to the amnesty offered by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

The militant, who was on the Iranian-Afghan border, contacted the Saudi Embassy in Iran, expressing his intention to surrender under the amnesty.

As the militant has had no identity documents, the Saudi Embassy prepared the required the necessary documents for him and his family, who were transported to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by airplane in coordination with Iranian authorities. The militant is disables by injuries and will be admitted to hospital upon arrival in the Kingdom.
