02Jul2004 Wanted militant killed in Riyadh

Jeddah, 2nd July 2004

An official source at the Interior Ministry said that wanted militant Awad bin Mohammed bin Ali Al-Awad was killed in a shootout in Riyadh city on Thursday. Al-Awad was wanted in relation to the incident that took place in Faiha suburb of Riyadh on 22/2/1425H in which a security official was killed, as well as other security matters.

Wanted militant Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Abdulwahab was identified as the injured person following the shootout in which Al-Awad was killed. Al-Abdulwahab has been wanted by security authorities in connection with the assassination of a German resident in Riyadh city on 3/4/1425H. Private Muslih bin Saad Al-Qarni was the security official martyred in the incident.

Two machine guns, two pistols, a high-explosive bomb, four pipe bombs and various kinds of ammunition were seized following the shootout.
