03Jun2004 Saudi Arabia donates to World Food Program

Al-Ahsa, Saudi Arabia, 3rd June 2004

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia donated 385,000 tons of dates to the World Food Program as assistance to poor and needy people in developing countries, which brings the Kingdom’s material contribution to the Program to a value of SR1,121 million.

Recent statistics issued by the Ministry of Agriculture showed that the Kingdom produces 648,000 tons of dates per year, and has 18 million palm trees, which makes Saudi Arabia the biggest date-producing country worldwide.
