Amsterdam, 21st May 2004

Claude Mandel, Executive President of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), praised the proposal of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to increase the OPEC production ceiling by over two million barrels per day.

In a press statement in Amsterdam, on the eve of the International Energy Forum’s convention, he said that he is pleased that the Saudi Petroleum Minister is aware of the market’s requirement for more oil. He said that the increase in production, if approved, would pump a real output of 700,000 barrels per day.
