03May2004 US Ambassador thanks Saudi Arabia for its fight against terrorism

Yanbu, Saudi Arabia, 3rd May, 2004

U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom, James Oberwetter expressed thanks of U.S. administration and people to the government of Saudi Arabia for its distinguished efforts in combating terrorism. He praised the efforts of security forces in Yanbu Governorate and their role in providing safety to protect residents in general and Americans in particular.

The U.S. Ambassador's remarks came during a meeting here today with Yanbu's Governor, Ibrahim bin Shakhbout Al-Sultan, who stressed that these terrorist actions do not represent Saudi people's values and morals since the actions have been perpetrated by a deviant group that has no relation with the religion, morality and customs of the Saudi people.

A number of U.S. officials of the embassy and Jeddah-based consulate attended the meeting.
