A delegation from the Police Academy of the Czech Republic arrived yesterday to discuss an exchange of security expertise between the Czech Republic and Saudi Arabia, the Czech Embassy told Arab News.
The police team, which was invited by the Riyadh-based Naif Arab University for Security Studies (NAUSS), is led by Dr Hana Bartosova, President of the Czech Police Academy.
“The two parties will discuss the possibility of organizing special courses for students of NAUSS in the Czech Republic, and sending Czech security experts to organize specialized courses in the Kingdom,” said Vaclav Zilka, Counsellor at the Czech Embassy.
King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) plans to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Czech Academy of Sciences when the Academy’s President, Helena Illnerova, visits the Kingdom in March.
There has been a significant increase in the number of visas issued by the Czech Embassy to Saudis travelling to Prague. Many Saudis have visited Prague for treatment at one of the many health spas outside the Czech capital.
Bilateral trade between the two countries is worth over $38 million.
The Czech Republic and Saudi Arabia have signed agreements on security, education, and health care, among others.
