Retired General Abdulrahman Suwaraddahab, Chairman of the Council of Trustees of the Islamic Call Organization in Sudan and the country’s former President, was today chosen as winner of King Faisal International Prize for Service of Islam for the year 1424H.
The prize winner was announced by Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz, the Second Deputy Premier, Minister of Defence and Aviation and Inspector General, following a meeting of the prize’s New Laureates Selection Committee, which he chaired.
The meeting, which took place in Abha earlier today, was attended by the Selection Committee members: Dr Salih bin Abdullah bin Homaid, Chairman of the Shoura Council; Dr Abdulwahid Belqaziz, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Conference; Dr Abdullah bin Abdulmohsin Al-Turki, Secretary General of the Muslim World League, and Sheikh Dr Mohammed Al-Habeeb bin Khoja, Secretary General of the Islamic Jurisprudence Complex.
The sixty-nine year-old Sudanese prize winner is a renowned Islamic personality, with a rich personal history in service of Islam. He is currently member of eleven international Islamic organizations and has presented a number of research papers at Islamic conferences on Islam, the call to Islam and challenges facing the religion in regional, Islamic and international arenas.
