Prince Abdul-Majeed bin Abdul Aziz, the Governor of Makkah Region, on Saturday patronized the opening ceremony of the fifth Jeddah Economic Forum, in the presence of the Prime Minister of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and former Prime Minister of Malaysia Dr Mahathir Mohammed.
Chairman of the Forum, Amr Al-Dabbaqh, expressed his appreciation of the huge number of attendees, including princes, prime ministers and businessmen, and thanked Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, the Deputy Premier and Commander of the National Guard, for his unlimited support for the Forum. He also thanked Prince Abdul-Majeed for patronizing the event.
Al-Dabbagh noted that this year’s Jeddah Economic Forum will focus on the domestic, regional and international agenda, and views and thoughts on economic perspectives.
Prince Abdul-Majeed delivered a speech on the occasion, in which he said that the economy has become the key sector in guiding government policies and the actions of investors, and expressed his hope that the economy would contribute to greater understanding and cooperation among nations.
Prince Abdul-Majeed called upon the Forum’s guests to look at the Kingdom’s culture and values, which call for moderation in thought and respect for others. He said that he hoped that all cultures and peoples can work together to achieve peace and prosperity. He pointed out that the Kingdom has begun a comprehensive economic reform program aimed at attracting foreign investments in the Kingdom.
