The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Naimi, and members of the Board of Directors of Janub Al-Rub’ Al-Khali Company held a meeting to discuss national gas exploration and production.
The company was recently founded to explore and produce the natural gas in the area of Al-Rub’ Al-Khali, in accordance with the agreement signed last month between the Petroleum Ministry and a consortium of international companies that owns the area’s discovery rights. The consortium founded the Janub Al-Rub’ Al-Khali Company, which is 40% owned by Shell, 30% owned by Total, and 30% by Saudi Aramco.
Janub Al-Rub’ Al-Khali Company was founded in December, and its General Assembly held a meeting during that month. Patrick Alman Ward of Shell was last Saturday appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Al-Khobar-based company.
The meeting was attended by Prince Faisal bin Turki bin Abdul Aziz, Advisor at the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and other officials.
