Following the first session of the Arab Interior Ministers Council held in Tunis earlier today, Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz, the Saudi Interior Minister and Honorary President of Arab Interior Ministers' Council, described the security situation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as good and stable.
Speaking to reporters, he, however, could not rule out the occurrence of any terrorist act in the Kingdom. "Yes, it is true that all of a sudden something could happen", he was quoted as saying but Prince Naif gave assurances that the Saudi government and people are able to contain such developments. He said the Saudi Government is constantly taking the highest levels of care, caution and vigilance during the Hajj seasons to ensure the security and comfort of the guests of Almighty God.
Prince Naif said it is deplorable that terrorists in Saudi Arabia are claiming to be defending Muslim doctrines. On the contrary, they defame our religion through these acts of terror, he said.
Commenting on the national dialogue recently held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Naif explained that the dialogue, patronized by Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, the Deputy Premier and Commander of the National Guard, was taking place among a group of citizens upon the request of some thinkers and intellectuals.
"But there can be no dialogue with the deviants", he categorically confirmed. Prince Naif expected success for the Arab interior ministers conference, describing the session as critical and important. He reiterated his call for taking firm action against deviants and at the same time raising the slogan of intellectual dialogue by Arab intellectuals, thinkers and literates.
He expressed his happiness on meeting Iraqi Interior Minister Noori Homood Albadran on the sidelines of the conference in Tunis. He paid tribute to the work done and activity made by the Riyadh-based Prince Naif Arab Academy for Security Sciences. However, more remains to be done to enrich the security literature, he added.
It is regretted that some media in the U.S. send signals that the situation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is not stable, Prince Naif said, adding that such disinformation is not even in the interest of the U.S. Whatever the situation, we depend on our people, their solidarity, unity and loyalty to their leadership, he said. "These are the facts in the Kingdom today", he added.
