11Dec2003 WAMY prize ceremony

A final ceremony was concluded yesterday at Al-Aqsa Private School in Jeddah to award the prizes of the first Family Ramadan Contest, for which the Jeddah branch of the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) contributed a total of SR15,000.

The contest was aimed at increasing the contact and cooperation between schools and families of WAMY students.

Twenty-nine prizes were awarded. The first and second prizes were golden sets; the third was a computer; the fourth was a refrigerator; the fifth was a washing machine; the sixth was a television set; the seventh was an electric furnace; the eighth and ninth were electric mixers, and the tenth was a vacuum cleaner. The eleventh to twenty-ninth prizes were printers, scanners, home appliances and utensils. There was also a random draw of ten numbers, for which the winners were given various prizes including printers, scanners and other computer accessories.

The ceremony commenced with a recitation of the Holy Quran, which was followed by a number of speeches. Abdulrahman Al-Zahrani, Students’ Affairs Manager at Jeddah Education Administration, gave a speech in which he expressed his appreciation of the contest’s convention and praised WAMY for its sponsorship of the contest and its continuous cooperation with various education establishments in the Kingdom.
