06Nov2003 Two terrorists besieged in Makkah

Riyadh, 6th November 2003

Realising they had been besieged by security forces, two wanted terrorists committed suicide in Makkah today, an official source at the Interior Ministry announced.

In a statement, the source said that the two wanted terrorists, who were found by security officials in Al-Sharae’a district of Makkah, detonated bombs to explode themselves when they realised they would be apprehended by authorities following a shootout.

A Klashinkov, a pistol, two bombs, five detonators and ammunition were found with the terrorists, the source said.

The statement reiterated the Kingdom’s determination to guarantee law and order, and severely to punish criminals.
